2010 ACMA’s Top New Artist

The winner of the 45th Academy of Country Music Award as Top New Solo Vocalist and the Top New Artist was honored to an acoustic singer from Leesburg, Georgia, Luke Bryan. He was voted by fans from all over the world through CBS.com/vote during the show. He won the Top New Artist against Gloriana (who was declared as this year’s Top New Vocal Group) and Joey + Rory (who took home as the Top Vocal Duo Award). Not only did Bryan win the Top New Artist Award, he will also appear on the Celebrity Apprentice episode together with Emily West as Tracy Adkins brought them together for a makeover in Donald Trump’s famous reality show.

It was an exciting night for Bryan as he accepts the award nervously and thanked his family, his wife, fans and hometown in his speech. He said that “no human” could be more nervous than he was as he was holding the award. And he also thanked his brother who is now in heaven. Luke Bryan debuted in 2007 with his single “I’ll Stay Me” which was released by Capitol Records. His latest release “Doin’ My Thing” debuted at the number one spot on Billboard’s Country Album Chart. Bryan himself wrote the song “Do I” on his “Doin’ My Thing” album together with Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood of Lady Antebellum, whose lead singer Hillary Scott also sings backing vocals to it.

In addition, the ACM awards night were highlighted by performers who made the crowd to their feet. Taylor swift, who was crashed by Kanye West during his speech as the Best Female Video, rocked the house as she performed her hit song “Change” with The Tritones and a cappella group from UCSD. Swift ripped her dress halfway during her performances and revealed her jean leggings which makes everyone in the audiences energize.
