This magnificent of Pura Kehen has three sections staked one over the other. The primary stage is the oldest part and the historical prastasis and lontar are found in this level. Kala-makara is the demons carved on the striking closed gateway also named as pamedal agung whose main work is to keep the malicious spirits from incoming the blessed ground beyond the gateway.

Old waringan tree is found in the courtyard and has the kuklul drum preached on it. What is amazing is that court yard walls are inserted with plates of Chinese porcelain, and albeit chipped. The inner sanctuary, houses the shrine with 11 narrow meru roofs which is the resting zone especially for the Gods of mountain. The famous Balinese stone carving of the three throned Hindu trinity called the padmasana is situated to the right. The whole structure looks magnificent with Balinese carving seen throughout the magnificent temple

Moving to the highest point of this temple one can view the whole of the glandular structure of the temple and the magnificent country side below. The colorful gardens of Pura kehen is adored with hibiscus and lantana among other flowering plants. The best time for visiting the temple is in the afternoon you can take good photograph during the afternoon light.

This is the time when all tourist buses leave and you have lesser number of people clambering everywhere. The entry fee into the temple is very economical. Surrounding the temple are small warungs where you can have light food and quench your thirst. The spiritual atmosphere is completely felt in the temple.
