The Belmont Stakes win gave Hall of Fame horse trainer Bill Mott his first victory. The Belmont Stakes second place winner was Fly Down ridden by John Velasquez followed by First Dude at third place with jockey Ramon Dominguez.

Well, I guess that concluded the Triple Crown for this year. And by saying that, may I add that the conclusion at the Belmont Stakes makes us wait in anticipation for next year where hope flies for a Triple Crown winner.

I was just about upset that Lookin At Lucky, winner of the Preakness Stakes, did not run the Belmont Stakes this year. Actually, winner of the Kentucky Derby Super Saver skipped Belmont Stakes as well. It was bad enough that there has been no Triple Crown winner for thirty-two years and even the last helping of the United States Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing was of no hope for a double win at this year’s Belmont Stakes results. But, that was not to say that the most demanding of the Triple Crown, the Belmont Stakes was without surprises. The lack of previous winners from Kentucky Derby and Preaness Stakes meant the last leg of the Triple Crown was anybody’s err, ballgame.
