Woford Falls to Wisonsin

Wofford College lost to Wisconsin University of the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Wisconsin was ahead by 8 points at the first half of the game but Wofford University shifted gears and made a stunning 12-4 run late in the game with four minutes left. However, Wisconsin was too strong with there defense and eventually, Wofford University succumb to defeat. Trevon Hughes led the Badgers with19 points for Wisconsin, including 12 of the Wisconsin’s first 21 points. Wisonsin Forward Jon Leuer, who played 40 minutes, scored 20 points, including a jumper and two free throws in the final 17 seconds,

The game’s outcome was very clear in the last minutes of the game as the Wisconsin Badgers showed their post season experience with their very tight defense in the post area. Even with the loss, Wofford has nothing to be ashamed of as they also showed they have what it takes to compete in this level. They were able to make a come back at the second half were it matter most. Wofford University has still a very good future ahead of them. They just have to continue what they do best in their offense and and improve in the defensive end.

Wofford is one of the smallest colleges in the history of the tournament having only an approximate number of students enrolled 1,100. With a small number of students to scout players with college tournament caliber, coach Mike Young and staff were still able to get very good players and has made a respectable record entering the 2010 NCAA tournament . There most recent achievement was winning the Southern Conference against Applachian State. Still, Wofford entered the NCAA tournament in the first round as the heavy underdog.

Wofford University entered the post season with a overall record of 26-9 and 15-3 in the Southern Conference. The Wofford Terriers has been coached by Mike Young eight seasons already.
