Bob Marley was christened to a mixed race of father Norval Sinclair Marley of 50 years old and Mother Cedella Booker who was at the age of eighteen. Because of racial discrimination Bob underwent several hurdles in early career. At the age of ten his father was demised.
Bob was named as “Tuff Gong” due to his gorgeous look and stamina that he had during the early days of his career. The family of Bob was transferred to Kingston from Jamaica after the demise of his father. During this period he came across Bunny Wailer, Joe Higgs, and Peter Tosh as his compatriots. Bob began his working career in a welding store where he used to play music during the leisure period.
Golden Period of Bob
‘Judge Not’ and ‘One Cup of Coffee’ was his Bob’s maiden score of music during the year of 1962. Bob formed a band naming it as ‘The Wailers”. The songs like ‘I’m Still Waiting’ and ‘It Hurts to be Alone’ was presented in duo of famous producer Clement Dodd. During 1966 Bob married to a girl called Rita Anderson.
The Wailers band in association with Dodd had many famous tunes among which “One Love’, Simmer Down’,’ Soul Rebel’ and ‘400 Years’ songs created huge fan followers in Jamaica.
Due to his repeated concept of Rastafarian in the songs made him to loose many followers and was made to strand alone. He was at last pushed to earn his bread and butter by working in an industry.
After five years struggle from 1968 to 1973, The Wailers entered in to music world with a bang debut of ‘Catch a Fire’ and ‘Burnin’ albums. Burnin album had good collection of fame songs like ‘Get Up, Stand Up’ and ‘I Shot the Sheriff’. The music world discovered the entry of Rita Marley.
In 1974, The Wailer band with drew some of the older band members owing to personal reasons. But sooner ,The Wailer band introduced many new comers namely Carlton and Aston ‘Family Man’ Barrett (drums and bass), Junior Marvin and Al Anderson (lead guitar), Tyrone Downie and Earl ‘Wya’ Lindo (keyboards), Alvin ‘Seeco’ Patterson (percussion), and the ‘I Threes’ (backing vocals).
Bob’s a hit includes ‘No Woman, No Cry’and Rastaman Vibration’ albums which was released during the year 1974. The other major albums like ‘Exodus’ and ‘Kaya’ got good success. In a mishap Bob Marley, his wife and manager Don Taylor were astonishingly saved their life with minor injuries. The grey period of Bob was when he was put behind the bars owing to usage of narcotics and later was released.
Last moment of Bob
Bob ultimately rest his breath on the 11th of May, 1981 delivering last words to his little son Ziggy was ‘Money can’t buy life’. Bob held his religious Rastafarian faith till his death. Bob collected awards, like the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001 and entered Roll Hall of Fame.
