Neo-Soul singer Erykah Badu Strips on New Music Video!

Controversy is what we call it. The new music video of the song “Window Seat” features Erykah Badu walking thru a Dallas city sidewalk while slowly taking off an article of her clothing until she finds herself naked in Dealey Plaza, better known as the place where John F. Kennedy was shot to death in 1963. The last part of the video shows Badu totally naked, when a gunshot is heard depicting an assassination and showing the neo soul singer fall face first into the pavement.

The controversial music video is inline with the release of Erykah Badu’s latest album “New Amerykah Part Two: Return of the Ankh,” to which the singer states “They play it safe, they are quick to assassinate what they do not understand. They move in packs ingesting more and more fear with each act of hate on one another. They feel most comfortable in group-less guilt to swallow. They are us. This is what we have become, afraid to respect an individual. A single person within a circumstance can move one to change to love ourselves..to evolve.” The video indeed shows the neo soul singer with the words “EVOLVING” printed on her back.

Hailed as the “Queen of Neo Soul” by her contemporaries and peers, Erykah Badu was born Erika Abi Wright in Dallas, Texas on February 26, 1971. In her early days as a jazz and soul artist Badu was known to wear colorful headwraps, signifying her unique taste for fashion that is a reflection of her unique sound, often compared to the musical style of jazz great Billie Holiday. Erykah is also an actress, with Hollywood films to her credit playing various supporting roles in Blues Brothers 2000, The Cider House Rules and House of D.
