Mad For Plaid

Runway: Designers have mixed and matched plaids, made it oversize into large prints and placed it into new pieces – such as a matching short suit.

Reality: Plaid can be formal or sporty. It depends on the fabric, scale and print. It comes best in formal pieces: fun totes, cute camp shirts etc. It has the breezy look of a summer. Leave it to the experts to do the missing and the matching, unless you are yourself feeling adventurous (even if the experts do it it looks ridiculous most of the time). It is best to wear your plaids with neutrals or use something bright to bring out the story of your plaid.

Runway: The shirtdress is the thing for the spring; from sharply cut military styles to the softer draped ones.

Reality: The shirtdress is a dress that looks great on one and is a favorite among working women everywhere. A knee-length one or one that is shorter looks best on most women. A more straight skirt with a top that is blousier balances out the curves.

Short Stories

Runway: Walking shorts, Daisy Dukes, bloomers, leather shorts, Bermudas: designers have reinvented this favorite for the summertime in every way imaginable.

Reality: The seemingly favorite shorts for this spring is undoubtedly the leather ones, but it is not a dress that everyone can wear. The city suit or the short suit, without doubt, gives a great look and is an alternative to the younger and traditional suit. For many of us, a slim long suit or even a walking short that just slaps around the knee is a great way to try.
An easy way to bring up to date the usual look when you wear crop pants or jeans is to wear shorts.

Runway: Soft oranges, more specifically coral, heated up the neutrals on the walkaway.

Reality: Choose a shade of orange that goes with the shade of your skin: on most women anything from peach to coral works well. This shade blends beautifully with the softer neutrals such as white and khaki; it also looks fabulous with all the blues and the metallics like silver and gold.
